Pro's and con's of Vegan diets?

i have a extra credit thing do for my Biology class (i am failing) and for one of the quetions it has the quetion "Pro's and con's of Vegan diets"

Answers:
Pro's: You don't suffer from high cholesterol if you also avoid junk food. You don't risk getting diseases from animal products. It's friendly to animals. The famous writer, George Bernard Shaw once said "animals are my friends, I don't eat my friends". You have less risk of cancer such as colon cancer if you eat wholefoods. Your system is less acidic because meat contains sulfer (spelling?) which causes acidity and this causes disease and robs you of calcium. You suffer less from mucous because dairy causes mucous. You know what? The list goes on. You can look it up on the link I'll give you.
Con's: You need self-discipline and good planning which may take up a bit more time and effort to plan a well-balanced diet. You also need to make a lot of food yourself. You need to combine grains and legumes and eat nuts and seeds for your body to gather all the essential amino acids for complete protein. Some grains are deficient in a certain amino acid, but you find it in a legume. You just need to eat a variety. You have a 17 hour amino acid pool anyway so it is really not that difficult to get enough protein. You have difficulty eating at restaurants because hardly anyone caters for vegans. You have to take your own lunch with when you go out because you are starved by the time you find a place that sells vegan food (unless you buy fruit). You might feel uncomfortable when you socialize because they all eat meat and you can only order chips or salad or dry pizza with a few pieces of vegetables on. But at home you can make a delicious pizza with braised tofu and perhaps a blended cashew nut sauce! But then again... why worry what others think if the vegan diet is very popular? Shania Twain is vegan. Loads of celebrities are vegan!

Other Answers:
Well, pros are that they're healthy, better for the environments, help animals. Cons are that it's hard to get protein and other nutrients meat and animal products have, and of course, eating soley vegan foods would NOT taste good.
pro...probably good for you
con...no steak and all the trimmings...yummy
Pros: your heart and body should be healthier.
Cons: there are vital proteins you lose when you don't eat meat & carrots scream when you cut them.
pro: u eat healthier

con: u dont get alot of the nutrients that u get in meat and animal products. u still get some, but its harder 2 get.
sweetie, in one word, SOY.
If you are ok with a lot of soy a vegan diet is not to bad on the taste buds. But ya really gotta eat a lot of tofu to get your protein..and I don't care how yoou slice dice or marinate it, it ain't a filet mignon

As a vegan I can say the pro's outweigh the con's.
It is healthy & nutritious, try tofu, vegetarian hotdogs (you wouldnt know the difference), lentils, beans. Add imagination and it is a delicious, guilt free diet.
Meat eaters are far more at risk of bowel/heart disease, obesity and encourage the bad use of our resources, eg lot fed beef eating enough grain to feed the world.
Con's, cant think of any, sorry there
