How Much is Too Much?
I think I have a problem. With Sugar. I know.. I know.. it sounds lame, but it's true. Over the past few weeks, it's like an addiction, I have to have my fix of sugar. It doesn't help that in my work place there's always chocolates and mentos and things like that, and at home I have those huge stashes of chocolates from costco, and a little here a little there, and by the end of the day, I had like 89 grams of sugar or more...
What should I do?!?
Answer:
Excessive sugar consumption is believed to be involved in many common health problems: hypoglycemia, diabetes, heart disease, high cholesterol, obesity, indigestion, myopia, seborrheic dermatitis, gout, hyperactivity, lack of concentration, depression, anxiety, and more. Sugar is rapidly converted in the blood to fat (triglycerides), which increase obesity, risk of heart disease, and diabetes. Sugar greatly increases the risk of dental decay. It is devoid of vitamins, minerals, or fibre; it is an empty food. The lack of fibre in sugar causes a tendency to overeat. Enough said?
Saying “Sugar is bad for you!” is an understatement.
Try to incorporate honey. It is better for you and your body can digest easier.
aww i have the same problem..help us!

89 grams! That's almost a half a cup of sugar a day!
You definitely need to be careful - you don't want to create medical problems that would completely cut your sugar (any form of sugar - candy, fruits, juices...) from your diet.
get rid of those bags of candy at home... or don't buy any more.
At work, avoid those tables with the chocolates or mentos.
You don't need to go cold-turkey. Just wean yourself away from the candy.
I don't know about honey... It's still sugar.
You must be stressed and the sugar is a way of coping.
Find other ways to relax and unwind. Listen to music, go for walks, find a fun gym and do step aerobics to some fun music.
You should slowly cut back, and eat only hard candy, no chocolate. Get rid of all the stuff at your house, and substitute it with fresh crisp veggies. I too have a sugar addiction and this did help.
Since you know that you are overindulging in sweets, please try and figure out why you want that next piece of chocolate etc. Write down how you are feeling and when the desire to eat sweets comes about. Then see a doctor and discuss your need or imagined need to keep eating what you know is not healthy. You have to rule out an illness whether of body or spirit and then proceed with the tools a health professional will suggest. Please don't go one more day without seeing a professional as your behavior suggests serious problems will arise.
You are not alone, I've even got off the freeway to get a Dove's Dark Chocolate bar. Like any addiction you have to cut back a little at a time, not a 12 step program, just cut back. Wanna split that cookie?
Have the same exact problem. I love sweets! Let me know how you fix the addiction.
