proactive. Really. It works
A lot of people are allergic to benzoyl peroxide even if they are allergic to things. If you use that be prepared to get tons of tiny bumps that itch like a rash all over your face. I prefer microdermabrasion. You can get a home kit.
both..... but not at the same time.......
ones better at immediate and the other is more long term.... both can be pretty harsh...and make it worse
For long term, salicylic acid. I keeps pores open and has a light exfoliation which keeps your skin really fresh and soft. BP works to dry up existing pimples. Neutragena acne wash has salicylic acid and keeps your skin really clear. For breakouts, a few dabs of Benzoyl peroxide will clear you right up.
depends on the skin type. thinner skin or more sensitive skin would probably do better with peroxide; because salicylic acid is also used in wart remover (don't believe me? check the ingredients next time you go to the drugstore) and in pool/hot tub cleaner i would think they might be a bit harsh on thin or sensitive skin.

personally, i hardly ever break out. but, when i do, it's salicylic acid all the way because mine are stubborn.
vitamin A or benzoyl peroxide
I've always had better luck with the salicylic acid, was told by dermatologist that it's because I don't have oily skin. Apparently the peroxide works better for oily skin.
