Does sour cream ever go sour?
Question:
Answer:
It goes moldy. I opened a carton in my fridge yesterday and found a dark green covering all over the sour cream. I did not taste it to see if it tasted sour but it looked horrible all the way to the trash can.
sometimes like after a month or year lol
well i dont know but you might want to rephase the question but it has such a high chance of going sour ..
It'll get more sour.
It goes bad.. that is why it has an experation date.. It usually ends up with mold..yuck..
If goes off after a few days. Store it in the refrigerator and use quickly.
Yes .
It "spoils" not sours. Other cultures start growths on it. I'm not sure if the original culture was still alive, as it would probably have been killed in pasteurization.
Yes, like other dairy products, sour cream will spoil. Like a previous poster mentioned, the carton should have an expiration date on it.
yes it does - and it starts smelling bad and turns a yellowish color.
you should throw it out at that point
oh yeah... and you'll know it when it does! it's about as gross as when blue cheese gets moldy! <HURL!>
No. It's like wine the older the better.
Just like any dairy product it has a shelf life, the use by date is a good indicator of when to throw it out. However in answer to your question, techincally i guess it doesn't get any more sour than it already is but from personal experience I do know that it turns green and moldy beyond expiration date of a month or more.
