What is it about Chinese food that keeps you hungry?

I love to eat at my local Chinese restaurant, but I always have to get a takeout plate afterwards cause i'm starving about an hour later. Is there somthing in the food?

Answers:
you are misinterperating thirst for hunger

shinese food actually makes you thirsty

due to the common meat tenderizer MSG as stated before

but it isnt hunger and you should drink water instead of eat more

also find a better Chinese Restaurant it may cost you lil more to eat but it will be a lot healthier for you and you wont feel thirsty afterwords

actually it might be cheaper cause you wont have to order more food an hour later

i have wondered this myself. I have your same problem

MSG Honey, Its called MSG

Chinese food is known for that. I heard a saying the other day 'moivation is like Chinese food, it doesn't stick' Not sure why but people from China seem thin, so hey, I'm all for it.!:)

<msg...and it is NOT good for you.

Salt addictives.. usually caused by soya sauce.. i think you're more thirsty then hungry... chinese food has A LOT of soya sauce or oyster sauce blah blah blah... Monosodiumglusomate, or something like that, they put the same stuff in pot noodles and mcdonalds, it makes you hungry again and thirsty so you end up going back for more, scarey stuff really

Most chinese food is loaded with salt, and a poisonous chemical, MSG, that does havic on some people poor guts.Plus
90 percent of the meals that they serve are carbs. Chow mein, rice, vegetables and then they throw a little meat in there. The flavored salty carbs fill you up, plus make one thirsty, which then yha drink more. You walk away filling like a Oompa Lumpa and the carb where's off and yer wondering...Where did I put those fortune cookies. I'm starving! Make sure to always try to tell them, NO MSG.
they can make it for you if you ask, some places don't serve it anymore, some do. If you feel yer tummy hurtin' and your rushing to the pot, that's the MSG talking! Scary stuff, should be a ban on it. The food tastes just as good without it anyway!!
(Pancakes are the same way with me)Eat two, feel stuffed.
1/2 hr. later, I'm ready for breakfast!
Good luck!
I love Hot and Sour Soup! It's my favorite! Yummy yum yum...
I can fill up on just that!

MSG dont believe them when they say they dont use cuz they all do!!!!!! It's MSG. There still some ways to fix it.
1/ Like ealier someone suggest to spend a bit more in more costly shop.
2/ Ask the cook NOT to use it.
3/ Learn to cook Chinese food yourself. Meet some chinese friend and you will love it when they have pot-luck

Um, I have the exact same problem with Western food, for example, burgers.

I think it has something to do with what we're used to eating. Perhaps your staple is meat and potatoes, but for Asians it's rice.
So whenever my mom and I have a huge dinner at some meat and potatoes establishment, or we hop by Mcdonalds once in a blue moon to fill our bellies, we get so famished after a few hours we go straight back into good ol' Asian food.

I think it's just about what we're used to eating.
It's like how some Italians would never get full or call a meal, 'a meal' without spagetti and ravoli.
