Hmmmm, Pina Coladas would be a good choice (especially since the song came out in the late 80s). You could also do an old wine, champagne or something of the sort.
Wine Coolers, a lot of the "good" liquor, and most of the newer beers weren't around or popular in the 80s.so those would be out of the question.
If all else fails, Scotch is a traditional beverage of choice.

Any drink is good at a party. Just have a large variety since not everyone drinks the same thing.

Trash Can Punch. Hawaiian punch and ever-clear. mix it in a trash can.

If you can get a needle, it is really cool to inject capri sun's with vodka or rum. Tab, wine coolers, and corona were all really popular in the 80's.
