I wanna throw my first coed house party ...?

I wanted to know if asking everyone to bring something (like food or drinks) was a good idea?

Answer:
i think thats a good idea..just ask them to bring one item each and maybe let you know what they're bringing so everyone doesnt end up bringing the same thing.
or you just have a standing cover charge and get the food yourself
asking them is ok, but be sure to provide some.
If you ask nicely, most people won't mind bringing a treat or beverage to a party. If its more of a close get-together, I would definitely ask party-goers to bring something. For a more casual event, cookies, chips and soda are normally a good idea. Something more fancy would have finger foods served on trays. But if you're planning a big bash at your place- I doubt many people would be thinking of snacking. For my biggest parties, I start out with snacks for the early-comers since they're my best friends, but if you want, a couple of bags of inexpensive chips and extra bottles of mix is a good idea for when the big crowd arrives.
Have a great party!
