"This is a very simple and delicious homemade, vanilla custard."
INGREDIENTS:
2 cups milk
1/4 cup white sugar
2 eggs, beaten

1 tablespoon cornstarch
2 tablespoons water
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
DIRECTIONS:
1. Fill the lower pan of a double boiler 1/3 full of water, and bring to a low boil. Pour milk into upper pot, and place over boiling water. Heat until small bubbles form around the edges of the milk. Stir in sugar, and continue stirring until it dissolves.
2. In a small bowl, beat the eggs until light yellow. Remove about 1/2 cup hot milk, and gradually stir it into the eggs. Slowly mix the egg mixture into the milk in the pan.
3. Mix together cornstarch and water; slowly stir into custard. Bring custard to a boil, and remove from heat. Stir in vanilla. Serve warm or chilled.

I love cream puffs...can I have your recipe? I use this fluffy icing recipe..maybe that would taste good...here it is: 1/2 cup Crisco
1/2 cup butter
1 cup of sugar
1 teaspoon of vanilla
2/3 cup very warm milk
Beat the Crisco, butter and sugar until it starts getting fluffy, then gradually add the very warm milk while beating on medium-high speed...(the very warm milk will melt the sugar), keep beating until light and fluffy then add the vanilla and beat that in. You could probably fold in some chocolate or vanilla pudding to make it more like a cream puff filling. Hope you like it. Good luck.
Boil the sweetened milk add custard powder gradually and boil until it thickens, allow to cool.
Check the proportion of the milk and custard powder.
This is rough idea not the recipe.
Cannot find the exact recipe now.
This is the recipe i use when making cream puffs. Not only is it simple, but it is the same kind of filling bakeries use for their cream puff filling...

Cream Puff Filling

Ingredients:
2 cups heavy cream
2 tablespoons sugar
1/4 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions:
Whip the cream with the sugar and vanilla until stiff (this is make a lot easier with a stand mixer or electric beaters...make sure your bowl and mixer are clean and dry). That is it! Just fill your cream puffs with it and you are good to go!
You can use instant custard style pudding mix or
3 eggs
1/3 cup sugar
1/8 tsp. salt
2 cups scalded milk
1 tsp flavoring of choice

Place the eggs in top of double boiler and beat at medium speed of mixer until frothy
Combine sugar and salt and gradually add to the eggs beating until thick.
Stir 1/4 of hot milk into the egg mixture and then add the rest of the milk stirring constantly
Bring the water in the bottom of the boiler to a boil.
Reduce the heat to low and cook stirring occasionally 20-25 minutes or until thick.
Add flavoring and cool

At this point I stir in equal amounts of whipped cream
I also use Grand Mariner instead of the vanilla.

You can use almost any flavor you wish.
Hey, I can make great custard but, oh, my cream puffs the first couple of times were like rocks. Actually, I was going for eclairs so they were oblong rocks! Anyway, I finally found the recipes and methods in Baking Illustrated, a book by Cook's Illustrated Magazine. They show you how to temper the eggs to achieve a smooth, creamy, thick pastry cream.
