msg...............

Is putting msg in ur cooking considered cheating ?
And is it bad for ur health ?

Answers:
Monosodium glutimate is used to keep baked goods from turning stale. It is good for that purpose, but is not too good healthwise.I would say that if you're following a recipe, and the recipe calls for msg you're not cheating.

MSG Is not good for you
It depends upon the message...
Many people are allergic to MSG...but if you are not allergic to it then it is no worse for you than table salt. If you have high blood pressure & other heart problems it is probably bad, but then again so is table salt...It is not cheating if it is called for in the recipie, but there are other things that can be used as "flavor enhancers" such as onion powder, or fresh herbs. Depending on the recipie
cheating in what way?

Yeah, it's bad for you. Don't eat it if you can help it.

STAY AWAY FROM THAT .. i AM A CHEF
It's not GOOD for you ... and it's been linked to headaches as well as allergies ... but I don't think a little of it is actually BAD for you either!!

Everything in moderation! Just use it "to taste", like salt, and you should be OK.

"MSG is the sodium salt of the amino acid glutamic acid.

It is made commercially by the fermentation of molasses, but exists in many products made from fermented proteins, such as soy sauce and hydrolyzed vegetable protein.

The tongue is sensitive to five flavors -- salt, sweet, bitter, sour, and 'umami', the taste of MSG."

GET THE HINT?
MSG is proven to make the consumers eat the product, and not feel full. It also has a chemical in it that is bad for you. I'm not sure what it does. Who knows...it may cause cancer!!!
