What is the trick in boiling eggs so the shells come off easy?

I have a trick, and I want to see if anyone else knows it

Answers:
The trick is not to use fresh eggs. I don't hard boil my eggs unless they've been in the fridge for at least a couple of days. The fresher they are, the harder they are to peel.

Other Answers:
a little salt in the water.
boil them till they float to the top
Do not over boilled them!
after you boil the eggs, pour off all the hot water & douse the eggs with cold water
add salt to the water. Let the egg completly cool and then shell under running water.
Salt in water, and soon as they are done run cold water on them until cool
Put in a healthy portion of salt in the water when you boil it... It normally helps detatch the shell from the egg... But you still have to be carefull
i think you let the water boil first then put the egg in?????
The boiling is not the issue with egg shells that come
off easily. It is the use of cold water after the eggs
are cooked helps with shell removal.
run it under cold water wile peeling
You must shock the hot eggs with cold water instantly to get the egg inside the shell to shrink back away from the shell itself.
Pour off the hot water, run under cold water, then add ice cubes.
Add a lot of salt to the water they're boiling in.

Run them under water when taking the shell off w/ a spoon or your fingers.
switch the boiling eggs quickly into cold water and the steam generated will separate the egg from the shell.
There is no trick to it, just boil the eggs, cool them in cold water, and peel them right away, the shells will come right off. Knock the egg, and brake the mid wall on the egg, then roll the egg one round on the table or a plate, then peel.

Start with cold water add eggs and some salt to water, bring to rolling boil and turn off heat and cover, let sit for 15 minutes then drain add cold water and let eggs sit till cool, then peal, Trust me, works every time
my trick? I put salt in the water, and I try to keep the eggs as warm as possible so is easier to take the shell off.let me knows yours email me lol
Put salt in the water, when they are done, run cold water over them and roll them on the counter to crack the shell. It peels cleanly every time.
add a little vinegair to the water for boiling.
then when they are cooked, then shock the eggs under cold water for a while. don't peel them 'til they are all cold.
what's your trick .. boil it with pinch of salt and you can take out the cover.. i can teke off its shell easily
I've always poked a hole in the broader end of the egg with a stick pin or the end of a knife, before boiling. Then once done, pour off hot water and run cold water over them and gently roll them on the counter to crack up the shell and peel gently.
I boil my eggs till their done. Drain the water. Soak them in ice-water for a couple of minutes. Then peel. They come right off.
My mom says make a tiny pin prick in the butt-end of the egg before you boil it, not too deep though. But I've never tried it. She swears that it works

* also I agree with AmyTrix

**So, what's the verdict? Who got it right? Spill already. I've got eggs to boil!
This trick thing is getting so old. Seems like everyone has got a different one, which brings me to mine here! I just get simple about it, and boil for 20 minutes...It never goes wrong. Easy to peel because I run cool water over them, and they are a beautiful white coat with a gorgeous yellow center...No black marks anywhere!:)
3things to do. one is start in cold water. 2 is medium heat. 3is put a little salt in the water. this goes without saying-time.
There are two tricks to getting the shell off easy:
1. As mentioned by an earlier answerer: Put salt in the water when you cook the eggs. This is also a good way to season your eggs.
2. When you have finished boiling the eggs, pour off the boiling water and cover your eggs with the coldest water your tap can produce. Let them sit for just a minute or two; then pour the cold water off. The shell and that membrane that tends to either stick to the egg or come off with the shell will come off easily.
I find that all hens eggs, no matter how small or large they are, will be perfect every time, just boil the water before you put the eggs in, and count 6 mins 15 secs, and when you bring them out , plunge them straight in to cold water for about 115 secs, if you wish the shells to come off easily, put just a drop of malt vinegar in the water..
forget all that they all said. hot water out of the tap, put the eggs in right away and turn up the heat all the way. let them go fo 8 minutes after the water is at a pretty good boil. salt makes no difference, it doesnt go through the shell so it wont have any effect on wether or not the shells stick. simple heat and water is all you need. after the 8 minutes, take them off the heat and let the water cool on its own, untill you can get the eggs out with your bare hand without going to the hospital for burns.

my mom, she can cook anything, she has been at it for 40 years. ( i have called her with the same question before )
boil eggs for 17mins. then shut off heat, let it sit for about 5 mins. empty water and shake the eggs around in the pot to bust the shells. shells should come off pretty easy
Add a bit of vinager to the water and then when the eggs are cooled, roll the egg under your palm back and forth on the counter and the shell comes off SUPER easy.
