Does anyone know an easy recipe from Monaco (Europe)?
We need an easy recipe (with easy to find ingredients) from Monaco (Europe). It is to be served to third graders, so it shouldn't contain fish, shellfish nor spicy ingredients.
Answers:
Look for recipes with Monegasque in the title. I looked around a little bit, but everything I found had fish or shellfish in it (go figure, Monaco is on the Mediterranean). If you can't find anything suitable with Monegasque in the title, try Provencal. Good luck.

I'm just assuming this is form Monaco, but I like to whip it up every now and then... can't go wrong with potatoes for kids!
DEL MONACO POTATOES
8 med. potatoes
8 tbsp. butter
6 tbsp. flour
2 1/2 c. light cream or half-and-half
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
1 c. grated sharp cheddar
1/2 c. fine dry bread crumbs
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Wash, peel and dice potatoes. Boil and cook, then drain. Put in 2-quart lightly greased casserole. In medium saucepan, melt 6 tablespoons butter. Blend in 6 tablespoons flour. Stir with whisk. Gradually add cream; heat to boiling, stirring constantly. Add 1/2 teaspoon salt and 1/4 pepper. Pour over potatoes; top with cheese.
Melt 2 tablespoons butter; stir in bread crumbs and mix until coated. Sprinkle crumbs over casserole. Bake until hot, 25-30 minutes. This is a good website. It tells about the history of Monaco and it has some good recipes that do not contain fish or spicy ingredients.
