How long to cook tuna steak in the oven for?

Question:
I have bought a tuna steak from the shops and it doesnt say how long to cook it in the oven for and at what heat!! does anyone no?

Answer:
Here is one way of cooking the tuna in the oven.

Pour 3 tbsp extra virgin olive oil over steaks. Place 1 sliced lemon on top as well as a couple of garlic cloves, 1 sprig of rosemary, and 1 sprig of oregano. Sprinkle on some coarse sea salt and freshly ground pepper. Let stand for 30 minutes.
Preheat oven to 350*F

Bake tuna in oven for 7 minutes, then add wine and bake for 5 minutes more or until desired degree of doneness.

Most recipes for tuna steaks are grilled. Here is one of those recipes –

4 (6 ounce) tuna steaks, 1 inch thick
1/4 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup dry sherry
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 teaspoon lemon zest
1 crushed garlic clove
3 tablespoons olive oil
Ground black pepper

Mix together: soy, sherry, lemon juice, zest, garlic and olive oil.
Marinate the steaks in this for up to 1 hour, turning frequently.
When ready to cook, lift from the marinade and sprinkle with black pepper.
Heat a grill pan or a frying pan (not using any oil or butter) until really hot and sear the steaks for several minutes on both sides to your likeness but do not over-cook them.
Or cook them on the barbeque.

Enjoy! ~-~
A good quality tuna steak can literally be eaten raw, so cooking depends on your tastes.

My favorite way to prepare tuna is to coat it with crushed black pepper, cayenne, or Cajun seasoning and grill it until the is the outer layer is cooked, but the inside is still pink.

If you cook a tuna steak all the way through until it gets that uniform gray color, you might as will just open up a can of tuna fish.
