digestive biscuits are a wholemeal (sweetmeal) biscuit and are very yummy esp. dunked in a cup af tea. they are often used to make the base of a cheesecake dessert
Can't believe how difficult it is to answer this simple question. I have some right here but have no idea how to accurately explain. they are plain slightly crumbly biscuits. Sorry.
I have never actually seen a British digestive biscuit. It is a type of cookie, and I've been assured that you can substitute graham crackers. ("Biscuit" is British for American "cookie".)
here are the ingredients : Wheat Flour, Vegetable Oil, Wholemeal, Sugar, Cultured Skimmed Milk, Partially Inverted Sugar Syrup, Raising Agents (Sodium Bicarbonate, Tartaric Acid, Malic Acid), Salt.
here's a link to the manufacturer, think they are the best known in the UK : www.123healthybalance.com/prod...
Sozza has given the best description!!
And they have NOTHING to do with Weetabix!!
Here's some pics to give you an idea;
